I am restoring grandpa's old 35hp Johnson OB and have ordered the factory books. OB is new to me so I'm tring to figure things out. In the meantime, It looks like the shift lockout bar is not positioned properly. When in nuetral, idle, position should it be on the brass cam plate under the flywheel or off it? How much should the brass plate move? It has two steps in it, but currently the shift lockout bar is in front of it. Does the shift lockout bar pivot to allow the brass plate to rotate with shifting and engine speed?
