Re: suggestions?
Ken, I am sorry to here about your problems with this. I would normally say give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but that he requested a change at the last minute, then his AOL account is gone and he does not show up here is really suspect. I would still go to the police and let them know. They will contact the other police department and if one of those guys may just drop by to check it out. Most likely though, you are out your money. I will keep up hope that he is just a long haul trucker and has not gotten back to base. I hate to see anyone out of money.

One of my friends deals in used computers (Macs). He deals with a firm that for a fee will do the following.

Agree to buy something from another person. Both agree on a price and enter into a contract with this company. The buyer sends the money to the company and they hold it. Once they have the money, the seller sends the equipment to the buyer. The buyer has so many days to inspect the equipment and tell the company to release the payment. If the equipment is not what was promised or does not work, the buyer can send it back to the seller and will get their money back. If anyone does not fulfill their end of the agreement within the time-frame the deal is off. I don't have the name of the company, but I will ask him for future reference.
