Re: suggestions?

Luna sea, you got mail.
Well it seems gee gee left no other info with the admin. besides what he gave me.They tried and I thank them for that. Just remember posters, whatever you do , don't send all the money.Just a deposit. If they won't take it then walk away.Don't feel your being "cheap" as I did by thinking "well it IS only a hundred bucks".If you think like that you can send me all the hundreds you don't care about. It seemed too little to squabble over before but it don't feel so small now. Ouch, it's gonna hurt for a long time. :(

Re: suggestions?

Was the email that was sent to you a hotmail type account or an internet provider account? There may be a way to get information through the service provider or even hotmail may be able to trace. You may however have to report it through the police to get access to personal information but the provider or hotmail could probably tell you how if it is possible.
Just a thought....

Re: suggestions?

The email address was ***xx@aol.com I don't know if only I'm blocked or if it's closed. AOL won't tell me. If anyone else would like to try email to that account and let Mr. Bill know that he needs to contact me I'd appreciate it.If your email is returned as "mailbox not found" I'd appreciate knowing that as well. Thanks to all. ;)
editied in fairness.

Re: suggestions?

I would suggest you call or email AOL and ask how it is possible to get the info (and tell them why) as I would suggest they do have it.Again, you may have to go thru the police but I would think that it would be well worth the effort.

Re: suggestions?

Ken, I am sorry to here about your problems with this. I would normally say give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but that he requested a change at the last minute, then his AOL account is gone and he does not show up here is really suspect. I would still go to the police and let them know. They will contact the other police department and if one of those guys may just drop by to check it out. Most likely though, you are out your money. I will keep up hope that he is just a long haul trucker and has not gotten back to base. I hate to see anyone out of money.

One of my friends deals in used computers (Macs). He deals with a firm that for a fee will do the following.

Agree to buy something from another person. Both agree on a price and enter into a contract with this company. The buyer sends the money to the company and they hold it. Once they have the money, the seller sends the equipment to the buyer. The buyer has so many days to inspect the equipment and tell the company to release the payment. If the equipment is not what was promised or does not work, the buyer can send it back to the seller and will get their money back. If anyone does not fulfill their end of the agreement within the time-frame the deal is off. I don't have the name of the company, but I will ask him for future reference.

ghostrider,
Only if you assumed that this is the member that screwed another member out of $115.00 for a control box, then yes, you assumed correctly.

Re: suggestions?

kend20gw, check with the money order company, good chance they can provide you with a photo copy of the MO and the name. address, etc of who cashed it. If it was never cashed they will usually give you a refund after some period of time from when it was sold. If it's a Post Office MO it's easy if you have the MO receipt with the MO serial number, there will likely be a fee ($3.75+/-)for the search. This saved me several times on ebay from the "gee, it never arrived" guys, Good luck
