1963 Mercury 65hp Fuel?

:confused: I'm new to all this boating stuff. I just got a 1963 Mercury 65HP outboard serial # 1759263. Someone said that i needed to mix the fuel? Do I ? and if so whats the correct amount? Like i said i know just about nothing about boat motors any help would be great. Thanks :confused:

welcome aboard,<br />2 stroke motors require a mix of oil in the gas<br />for lubrication of the system... pretty sure oil / gas ratio is 50:1

mine is a four so i should be good with out the oil correct. if i do not mix it there must be somewhere to add oil. ill have to look around

Yo Edistone!<br /><br />Merc didnt make a 4 stroke until very recently ( like the last couple of years I think)<br /><br />your engine is a 2 stroke, and requires 50:1 fuel/oil mix

Like evryone else said. You MUST mix oil with your gas and do yourself a favor and only use oil for outboard motors, preferably with TCW-3. You will burn the motor up if you don't mix it!!
