Started the engine this morning and it would not emit water from the small **** hole. I turned off the engine waited a moment and tried again. No luck the engine would not emit water from the small **** hole. I pulled the boat out of the water and attempted it again on land with "earmuffs". No Luck, I inspected under the cover and there were no broken water lines. I dropped the lower unit and the water pump was fine, the impeller was nearly perfect.

Any ideas? I was thinking maybe its a bad thermostat ?

most likly a clogged tube or outlet tube. try blowing air back through it. the fuel cooler will clog occasionally as well.

When I had the earmuffs on the engine when it was running but not "pissing" I placed my finger over the **** hole and it was sucking air in.

I had the same problem on my 1990 115 yamaha. The water pressure was fine on the gauge and it did not seem to overheat. Ran it for a while (45 minutes) @ various RPM. Next thing I knew the water was shooting strong through the telltale
It was clogged.
Just make sure you do have water pressure
