It would be early to mid 60s. Johnson and Evinrude parts will fit, but not from their 40s. Those have different gearcases. But old 25s, 28s, 30s, 33s, and 35s use the same gearcase as yours. Those extension parts will for your Gale. You'll need an extension for the midsection, a longer shift shaft or an extension link, a longer pipe for the water pump or an extension piece, and the killer ... a longer driveshaft. The only thing that can't be extended is the driveshaft. You have to have the right one. Many dealerships keep a pile of used motors somewhere. You might start checking those.
