    water shutters need replaced

    I have 1982 - 140 mercruiser which has the water shutters in the exhaust pipe just below the 90 degree riser. The old metal fasteners are bolted into the pipe. It looks like they will have to be drilled out to get them out(bolts are corroded away). New shutters that i have found on line do not...

    compression test - results?

    just finished doing a compression test on this motor that ha been sucking water into #3 cylinder. 1-168 2-155 3-195( water in this cylinder ) 4-160 i'm wondering why the bad cylinder would have much higher compression. i'd thought the opposite- much lower if there is a problem in that cylinder...

    fuel inlet nuts stuck

    every time i try to get the fuel inlet nuts loose at the carb. they don't want to break loose. brass nut that leads into carb nut that houses the small fuel filter in the carb. the last time i tried , i ended up twisting the steel fuel line until it broke . any help would be apprieciated. 1982-...

    compression test-grounding the coil

    the manual says to ground the primary side of the coil to prevent damage to it. how is this done? what is the primary side? 1982 - 140 mercruiser thanks for your help

    flappers worn out

    the flappers in exaust tube are broken off and need replaced, but because of the corrosion arond the tube i can't tell what type of bolts/screws hold the brackets to the tube. they are worn to the point that they almost look like pop rivets.probably need to be drilled out to remove the old...

    I know it's one of three causes, intake manifold, head, or block cracked but what is the best way to determine where the problem lies? Thanks for the help !
