I have some fouling and cold start issues and I want to get rid of the silly strapless plugs. Is there a standard electrode version out there that will directly interchange and be less sensitive to fouling?

The previous owners towed the boat everywhere just using a wood block jammed betwen the engine and tilt bracket instead of a transom saver. The cracks extend down about 3" on either side of the engine, and only on the the upper/forward deck, not the lower/rear transom.
What is the recommended fix?
