Well actually I finally had a look at the 2 injectors that I suspected had been changed and after doing some research I found that they are the wrong ones. They are too small and don't flow enough which I'm guessing is causing a lean condition. I also suspect that this boat sat for an extended...
So I pulled the old distributor and the plastic was definitely cracked at the head area allowing it to rock back and forth like it did. I got a new one and installed it but the problem still doesn't seem to have gone away. I did a fuel pressure test and at full throttle I was getting right...
I haven't had time to pull the distributor yet but I will today. Judging by the responses I've received it probably needs to be replaced so I'll most likely just go ahead and do that. I'll post how it goes and if it fixes my issue. Thank you
^ Yea what he said. The clamp down bolt is definitely tight and secure. The shaft doesn't move at all. It's only the head where the rotor and cap screw on to. I think I probably need a whole new distributor I'm just wondering if this is a normal amount of play. I don't have access to anything...
Is it normal for the cap to be able to rock back and forth like it does? I'm trying to decide if I should just get the cap and rotor or a whole new distributor.
I pulled a couple of plugs cause I'm still suspicious of the 2 changed fuel injectors. The first picture is of the cylinder with the changed injector. It looks suspiciously clean like maybe the injector isn't even working? The second image is of a cylinder that looks to have an original...
I made a video of the distributor movement. It seems to just be the head of the distributor. The shaft that goes down into the block doesn't move at all. Is this normal movement or should I replace the whole distributor?
I did think at one point there might be carbon build up causing the compression to be too high and making it ping so I did run a can of Sea Foam through it. There was a far bit of white smoke so I think it did do something. I think I'll get new compression numbers today. I found my local...
Do you think the distributor, cam sensor or crank sensor would be affected by running premium gas? I find it's got to mean something that the only time the boat ran right was when I first put premium in it unless that it just happened to be that whatever electrical issue didn't act up that time...
Hello Everyone!
Long time reader, first time poster. So I've owned my boat, 2005 Trophy 2352, for almost a year now and I've been having pinging/detonation pretty much the whole time anywhere above about 3500 rpms. Below that I can run all day with no problems but as soon as I move up I'll...
