    first start

Started my '84 Evinrude 115 for the first time on muffs this year. Ran very nice but I noticed a little bit of a milky/oily goo in the center of the prop where the exhaust exits....should I be concerned?

    thrust washer

Dumb question but does the thrust washer jsut sit on the shaft like a washer on a blot so it is easy to remove by hand or is it on the shaft tight? Removed my prop while waiting for new one and I dont see one there but the shaft does have what could look like a washer there but I cant just pull...

    Roller

question on rollers. My 16.5 ft fiberglass boat sits on a roller trailer. I put a bigger motor on the boat and needed to move it forward on the trailer. The rollers are on a bracket that holds 4 for each side which was hanging over the back of the trailer...I had to move the whole bracket to...

    ventilation?

Finally got my "new" 1984 evinrude 115 out on the water. Runs like a champ for about 20-30 minutes...all of a sudden RPS jump up like im out of the water...no turn..straightaway...slow down and slowly raise throttle and all is fine again for a few minutes then it will rev up again...what is...

    adding a tank

I want to add a 2nd fuel tank to my boat. Main tank(18 gal) is permanent under floor but I want more capacity. I was thinking of in front under the closed bow for weight distribution as well. Any thoughts?

    fuel line

I am curious about something. I installed a 1984 evinrude 115 and when I attached the fuelline there were actually two choices of what to do...one side had a part where it appears sometype of fitting (female)would be at the end of the fuel line and attach to the motor at a corresponding male...

    Prime

Quick question. On my old motor I had the push to choke with the ignition key, on my "new" 1984 115 evinrude I understand this changed to push to prime. The confusion is this...the old motor you would hear a clicking sound when you pushed the key in....no click with the push to prime...is this...

    tilt

Finally got my 84 evinrude 115 mounted and running like new. Question is this..it does not have tilt/trim..it has a shock absorber to assist with manual tilting but this seems to be harder to do than it should...is it a big job to swap out the shock for a new one?

    pos/neg

Hopefully this is the last silly question. I am finally ready to mount new 115 and need help with one thing...where do the cables from the battery go..neg and pos. on the motor?

    minimum battery

I just switched from a 50 HP to a 115HP...is there a minimum battery size/strength recommended fro the 115..just not sure if I am taking a chance with the original battery..only 1 year old. (at work right now and I am not sure what size that one is)

    something new

Just an observation but as soon as I got started tinkering with my "new" old boat to get it in better shape it seems that there is always a new idea popping in my head and I never seem to be done now. I suppose I'm hooked.:D

    closed bow

I'm considering converting my closed bow to an open bow with some extra seating. Already have the walk thru windsheild like that style would have but you have to climb out and sit on top of the bow and the marine polise dont like seeing you cruising with people out there! Is this a possible...

    mounting bolts

Just replaced my 50 hp outboard with a 115. The old motor only had bolts thru the top holes of the bracket that go thru the transom in the splashwell. My question is this...do I need to put any bolts in the lower holes? It would be difficult at best because of lack of access to put a nut and...

    new motor/controls

I installed an evinrude 115 (1984) on my boat. The old controls had wires leading to the fuse block under the dash for the lights horn etc. The new OMC controls dont have this set of wires to copy the installation from previous...are the clor codes of the wires universal? The old controls...

    force to evinrude-2 questions

Im installing a 1984 115 evinrude. As I remove the old Force stuff from my boat I have two questions/issues. One is the bolts holding the old motor that go thru the transom...one is coiming out fine...the other is in there like concrete...got the nuts off just cant get the bolt to move...tired...
