Started my '84 Evinrude 115 for the first time on muffs this year. Ran very nice but I noticed a little bit of a milky/oily goo in the center of the prop where the exhaust exits....should I be concerned?
Dumb question but does the thrust washer jsut sit on the shaft like a washer on a blot so it is easy to remove by hand or is it on the shaft tight? Removed my prop while waiting for new one and I dont see one there but the shaft does have what could look like a washer there but I cant just pull...

I am curious about something. I installed a 1984 evinrude 115 and when I attached the fuelline there were actually two choices of what to do...one side had a part where it appears sometype of fitting (female)would be at the end of the fuel line and attach to the motor at a corresponding male...
Quick question. On my old motor I had the push to choke with the ignition key, on my "new" 1984 115 evinrude I understand this changed to push to prime. The confusion is this...the old motor you would hear a clicking sound when you pushed the key in....no click with the push to prime...is this...
Finally got my 84 evinrude 115 mounted and running like new. Question is this..it does not have tilt/trim..it has a shock absorber to assist with manual tilting but this seems to be harder to do than it should...is it a big job to swap out the shock for a new one?

I just switched from a 50 HP to a 115HP...is there a minimum battery size/strength recommended fro the 115..just not sure if I am taking a chance with the original battery..only 1 year old. (at work right now and I am not sure what size that one is)
Just an observation but as soon as I got started tinkering with my "new" old boat to get it in better shape it seems that there is always a new idea popping in my head and I never seem to be done now. I suppose I'm hooked.:D
I'm considering converting my closed bow to an open bow with some extra seating. Already have the walk thru windsheild like that style would have but you have to climb out and sit on top of the bow and the marine polise dont like seeing you cruising with people out there! Is this a possible...
