I have a 1978 vintage 150 hp elpto mercury outboard , it always ran A-1 ......but now it wont start , no spark ! where should I start looking ? coil, switchbox ? I have a multimeter ......thannks !

first a resume:
I have a 1985 Doal 164 with a 3.0L/alpha one combo,
bought the boat with a cracked block ...around 4 years storage ...
the engine was already out when i bought...
is my 1985 3.0L rated 140 HP at flywheel or at prop ?
anyone knows excatly what year they started rating engines at the prop ?
wonder how many hp are lost in outdrive ?
I hope to have the correct terms .....
my trim solenoids work (clicking sound on both ) ...but the motor doesnt turn ....boat stored for 4 years ...
probably as my starter : corrosion ( cleaned : works)
dont want to do a mess.....do I just remove the top 4 bolts, and pull it up from trim pump...

my concern for now is :
I`m looking for distributor parts ...
is the distributor a prestolite or delco ?
all my searches ask me this question .....how can I know which is on my engine ?
bought a new water separator , new fuel filter ....
noticed that my fuel line is in a sad state .....
bought 12 ft of new 3/8 " fuel hose ....
what is the best way to change this..... unplug from the gas tank and try to tape the new one and pull on it ....

engine block is cracked from not being drained for winter ....
I already have the replacement engine on hand .....
when i pulled the engine out , i noticed that there is two double wires coming out of the outdrive .one...

just bought a 1987 doral 160 open deck with a mercruiser 140HP 3.0L with alpha one .....
I wonder if it would be worth modifying the engine
comp cam 260H , port the head , bigger valves, better springs etc...
anyone ever did this ?
