Just got a new to me lower unit. The water pump housing is in better shape on the new one but I think that it might be missing a seal. The new one is the plasitic kind but the metal isn't as worn on the inside. Am I missing a driveshaft seal? If so how do I get it in there? Thanks.

I have what I believe to be a 1967 950ss. At least the boat is a '67 and the motor is a 950ss. I've looked at the serial number charts and mine is lower than the starting number? How do I know for sure what I have? # 1854718
I have a 1968 950ss and when I drained the lower unit more water came out than oil. It's been below freezing for a couple months. There is no visual cracking on the outside of the unit. What could have been damaged inside and what sort of things should I look for. And yes... I have learned...
