I used a SS pin from Hill Marine which is also a heat treated pin. I also got a heat treated U bolt from Hill Marine for clamping the pin in the gimbal ring. The pin was much more expensive, as you stated, compared to the ones you find on Amazon. I talked with Hill Marine and he claimed the...
I replaced the carpet on the bunks on our trailer with GatorBak. The carpet had gotten to the point where it was marring the hull and I had to buff it out. It's expensive compared to carpet but I like the fact it doesn't hold water like carpet, allowing the wood to dry out quicker plus it does...
We have a 1999 Formula with a MerCruiser 310 (454 cid). I am thinking about upgrading to AGM batteries. I just wanted to check if it's a simple swap or do I need to worry about the charging system? Also any other thoughts/advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
I'm no expert on blisters; however, the circles in the first two photos do not appear to be raised like a blister. Blisters are bumps that form in the gel-coat from pressure from water that has absorbed through the gel-coat. I also believe if you open a blister up, you may get some water that...
Don't forget to add the relief portion on the top of the hole for the outdrive to allow the tiller arm to swing full left and right. I noticed in an earlier picture you had the hole cut out but the left and right relief at the top of the hole wasn't there.
Something you may want to consider is GatorBak bunk covers. They are definitely more expensive than carpet but that's what I used to replace the carpet on my bunks and really like them. They don't hold water at all and they do make it a little easier when I winch the boat up on the trailer.
Our 1999 Formula 260ss has VDO gauges in it and the tachometer has the hour meter built in. The hour meter has stopped working in it. Any suggestions on troubleshooting it or having it repaired?
Thank you
As alldodge stated, it's probably one inch spindles if it's 1200 pound trailer. The bearing numbers on my wave runner trailer are L44649 (1 inch spindles). The seal number is 12437. No guarantee these will fit. The only way to really know is to get the numbers off of the current parts...
You actually have 3 serial numbers. One for the outdrive, one for the transom assembly and one for the engine. Depends on the year but some boats (like my 1999) has all 3 on the cover over the engine. My 1989 boat had the engine serial number on a sticker on the valve cover. You'll have to...
