I have a 1970 Johnson 25 with a tiller extension on it. Does anyone have experience with these? I have never seen one before and would like to remove it...problem is I have no clue as to how it comes apart. Any help or information appreciated!
I have a vintage 14 foot runabout that is rated for 45 hp. I have a choice of two different engines.....a 77 Johnson 35hp or a 71 Evinrude 40hp. Both motors are in good shape and run perfectly. Which one will be the stronger performer and best choice for my boat?
Picked up an RDL-21 and hope to get it running. Issue is that the powerhead is free but flywheel can only be moved an inch either way.....enough to verify that both pistons are moving. I'm guessing that by the feel of things powerhead is free. Propshaft turns freely in nuetral. Question is...
Picked up a 1964 28 hp Evinrude with a floppy mag plate. I have a 62 40 hp Gale or a 57 Javelin for parts motors. Will either of these plates work on the newer engine?
Going through a 33 hp Ski Twin with electric start no generator and when everything is hooked up the solenoid intermittently activates. Seems like the solenoid is sticking but why would it just kick in on its own? Everything works perfectly most of the time. Thanks for any help on this one!
Just revived this model 4443 Evinrude 7.5 hp Fleetwin. Runs like a champ but I will need to replace the waterpump.......its weak. Can one of you folks supply me with a part number for the hard to find impeller? I have heard mention that one can be made from an existing and easier to find...
Just revived this 60 Gale Sovereign 35 hp and have a couple of questions........In my Johnson Evinrude manual for the 35's it shows that the mercury switch on the throttle ties in with the over rev vacuum switch. This model has no vacuum cut out. This engine is pretty much identical to our 57...
This summer we have repaired three early 80's OMC 25 hp engines that suffered a head gasket failure. All engines had little or no compression.......after installing a new head gasket each had 130-140 psi in each cylinder and ran perfectly.
Has any one else experienced this with these...
We just went through the powerhead on an 82 25 hp Evinrude and it runs nicely.
Problem is that it won't shut down with the kill button. Button tests good. Direct grounding the kill wire that goes into the power pack does nothing. Substituted packs and the same thing.
Any ideas?
I will be installing a good running powerhead to replace the scored one on a 1982 omc 25. I have the same year 35 for parts and will be using the exhaust tuner and carb from the 35 just for the hp increase. Are there any other parts that must be changed to make this motor a true 35 hp?
Setting up a wiring harness with no control box for an 82 50 Evinrude and have been using keyswitch wiring information from this fine forum. I am within one wire of completing the job. Here's the formula:

We are reviving a 1960 10 hp Evinrude and believe there is a seal problem under the flywheel due to the fact that the points had dark oil pooled on them......also a terrible coughing that is uncurable with carb adjustments.
Does this model use a rubber seal or slinger? How does the slinger act...
