    Merc 80hp 800 update kit... Coil wire??

    I received my new CDI update kit for our 1971 800 Merc. One thing... as it concerns the new coil/dist lead. On the one end is the correct cap to snap onto the new CDI coil, the dist end has a small threaded connector that would screw in??? Doesn't the dist take a regular snap on type wire...

    I have a 1970's era, Mercury 800 series (80hp)<br />is there a way of checking the coil? Also, does anyone have an idea on cost to replace? <br /><br />I am not getting spark so the coil would be the logical thing to look at I would guess.....correct? Thanks!
