I purchased a 1979 Johnson from a guy who had said he rebuilt it, but it had sat for about year. Did a compression test before I purchased it was around 125 psi on all four cylinders. I have had the motor for about a year now and the compression is now at about 100-110 per cylinder. Is this low...
So while checking the values they match on both sides. But I did notice that one of the wires on the nonworking side had rubbed against the flywheel until the wire was showing I taped and moved the wire. Hopefully that was the issue.
When replaced the coils and the power pack I had to put new rubber boots a couple of the connectors be cause the old connectors had been cut off and the wires were spliced together. So today I broke one of the pins off the wire so I am waiting for new ones to come in. But it was not getting fire...
I was wondering if anyone could tell me why my Johnson V4 isn’t getting spark on one side? I replaced the coil packs and power pack. Would it be the stator or the timing base? Thanks.
