Okay I will do this as my first steps. When the tick first started I removed the valve cover on the lake and didn't do a very good inspection but tried to do a running adjustment (loosen until it starts to clatter then slowly tighten till clatter goes away, then 3/4 turn more) but it was hard to...
Do you think I could buy new lifters and change them with the engine still in the boat as a last ditch effort for next season?? I really dont have the time or money right now for a rebuild unfortunately. Put her away in storage this past weekend it might be a long one if i cant figure something out.
I was able to get a video of it running. Seems to be getting worse. What do you guys think it is? The video with the engine cover off is right after start up. The video with the engine cover on is on the way in after running it for a while.

The steering on my 1981 17 foot open bow has been getting worse and worse over the last few years. The steering wheel has significant slop back and forth and the play seems to be coming from inside what I believe to be the rack and pinion under the wheel. I was wondering if there was any way to...
Hello all,

Success at last.
When i felt how hot the coil was i ran to the autoparts to get a new "stock" coil, reconnected the ballast resistor, and it ran good for over 20 minuets!
Like they say shes fixed for now we will see what happens when i put it in the water this weekend.
Thanks for all the help
Okay so update all.
i got a fuel pressure test kit but it did not have the right fittings so i could not test that. I have very low suspicion that is the issue anyways.
