Dumb question, why does it look like that tube pivots? Don't I want the tube to remain stationary while the linkage handles any movement at the connection at the carry handle?
Great info, thanks. So it looks like I would need a pull model, as the lever on the side of the engine that I can attach the cable to moves towards the front of the engine as the throttle is advanced.
Gotcha. Interesting that looking through all the variants of the 87 9.9/15s I couldn't find the tilt tube even on the electric start models. Those same parts diagrams are where I got the part # for the remote control kit for the shifter/throttle. Maybe just all the parts diagrams that are...
I bought a nice 1987 15HP 2-stroke (model # 15SH) that I'd like to convert to remote throttle/steer.
I got lucky on eBay and found a new-old-stock "remote control attachment assembly" part # 6E7-48501-50 and installed it. So now I have all the linkages for throttle and shifting ready for...
I have a Merc 110 (serial #3019010) that I bought from someone at work for $200. He says it ran a few years ago, he bought it from an estate sale, but it doesn't appear to have been used much.
I took the carb apart and cleaned it out, then I ran it in a drum for a few seconds, it started and...
Got it torn down all the way. Everything looks good to me. Not perfect, but good in my opinion.
Plenty of pictures below to check out. I can finally confidently say I don't think piston skirts is the problem.
Intake side of crankcase
Crank and pistons still in case
Center crank bearing...
Completely understand. I hope you don't mind I pick your brain on here instead. It would be greatly appreciated.
I got the powerhead off again and started disassembly. Got some pictures. Don't have the crankcase split apart yet. I don't want to take off the exhaust port covers as those...
I have tested with timing light, have not seen any ignition issues. I will tear it down and take pictures. If I cannot find anything wrong will re-assemble with the rest of the new gasket kit for the powerhead, and test run again.
I don't think you are near me (I'm in North Carolina USA), but...
Original sensor coil tested good, although the voltage produced was WAY higher than spec when tested with DVA. Replaced it early on in my testing on this motor, although I believe there was no issue with the original sensor.
New aftermarket power pack, still have what I belive is the OEM...
I just had it running in a drum again and noticed that along with bubbling water and pressure (appears to be exhaust?) around that pin/grommet, it also bubbles out around this black plug on the side. I pulled the plug and shined a flashlight up the exhaust and noticed this whole area is just...
