I am preparing to do my service and winterize. I want to drain and change the gear oil. I understand that my unit originally used omc HI-VIS. I have been told by a local omc guy to use evinrude hpf gear oil.
my question is who has a similar unit and what do you use? For how long?

I have a 1990 5.8. Boat will start on choke and run in neutral but dies when returning to idle or when at idle. If it is idling have no issue shifting into fwd or reverse. Once in gear can run all day good power. This happens on the lake or trailer
