Getting ready for StarCraft season here. No more days like this anytime soon:
Batteries are wired back in to my SuperSport and I'm trying to head out for my first spring Striper trip on the Delaware River. Maybe this Saturday - watching the weather.
Didn't get many updates done this winter...
This is looking really nice and coming together quick. Keep it going this SS will be getting wet all summer!
I like the bench seat boats alot. Do you have any issues with reach to the stern cleats with the bench plus splashwell taking up space?
I recommend using the Old Timers Formula, then oil based primer and Rust-Oleum paint from a can. For me this came out much more durable than OTF and Spar.
I think a painted floor with some sand in the mix would be good and allow for easy touch ups if needed. Especially if you plan to snap...
I am thinking that I need some to have some decals made up for the huge StarCraft splashwell that says "iBoats.com Restoration Forum StarCtaft Splash of the Year 202X". I knew that all that surface area would be good for something in the long run lol.
Real question though am I the 2024 winner...
Thanks everyone for the congrats! Really appreciative of all of you and for iBoats for getting me through this project. It was totally a lot of work and my finish was pretty shoddy compared to some of the boats in the past but here we are.
Goal Achieved. STARCRAFT SPLASH OF THE YEAR!
So honored and excited that I was nominated for StarCraft Splash of the Year! Thanks @Watermann for the nom. This was absolutely a goal in my mind throughout the build so this really makes me proud of the work that I put in. I owe my thanks to everyone on iBoats who has a thread from which I...
Thanks @Watermann !
I'm very happy to be nominated for StarCraft of the year for my 22' SuperSport rebuild.
We have been itching all winter so far to get out on the water again!
I found that the windshield and dash was too low on my SuperSport to stand and drive the boat comfortably, so I created a custom riser.
It's your boat - build it how you need.
I made mounting plates from thin sheet aluminum that I mounted the bilge pump bases to. I then riveted the plates to the rear most rib. I attached the pic that shows these best.
Thanks. It really has been awesome boating. The 22' really has been a good size for being out on the Delaware River, without being too big to handle as my first boat or on my own. I can't really imagine having less space.
Speaking of ships, we also see lots of other cool stuff moving around...
