I have a 1997 Northstar LTD jet boat with the famous OMC 115 Turbo jet, Ive owned the boat for about 6 years now. About 3 years ago I rebuilt the motor (myself) because it ate a ring in cyl #1 and #3. Its been running good knock on wood since, but fear I may have a problem...
I just stripped em out tightening by hand. Was bound to happen I guess. Only 2 out off all of them, and I didn’t think they were too important otherwise I would have fixed them right then and there before installing back on boat.
Was likely not the first time it had been opened up. Any idea if that second bolt has anything regarding its performance, or where it goes too/what’s behind it?
Can you check on your block where this other bolt goes into, as this one also stripped on me but I put in a different bolt of same length but cross thread, it’s tight but might not actually be tightening anything, I’m gonna be repairing this one too. Number 14 in diagram,

I did find one a bit longer but it had different threads, I jammed it in there (stupid me) and it seemed like it got tight but I think it was just the threads cross-threading, I don’t think it tightened the intake manifold to the case properly as it was running the same as withought the bolt...

Have good spark, got home early and got one from CT. Was jumping right at 3/8". one of the 4 was jumping even better. So spark shouldnt be causing the issue.
I haven't tested spark yet, not quite sure how. Don't have a spark tester, may get one this week and see what results I get. 2 years ago I checked by grounding the plugs to a bolt and all had blue spark but not sure if it was jumping the correct gap?
