I have two bilge pumps(500gph each). One is at the very back of my bilge under the motor and the other is in front of my motor. The float switch is about half way between. The wiring is no problem, I have figured that out.
I am just not sure if I should connect the outputs from both pumps into...
I have installed a new rebuilt long block 350 into the boat, I am now trying to start it up. I have checked the timing and it appears to be right. The engine has started a couple times and ran for a couple seconds. Then the starter goes, (just whirls).
I have pulled the starter and put a new...
I installed the bolt in for the harmonic balancer. Had problem with the mounting of a pump on the pulley and took the bolt out somehow I damaged the helicoil and I removed it.
I have the old helicoil from the old engine but cannot get it into the new block?? I see that the crank is a 1/2" fine...
Here is my problem, we have installed a rebuilt 5.7l motor, the leg is a Volvo Penta AQ280. We got everything back together but now are thinking about alignment. First thing we "did not" use the 884502 tool to check the clearances. However we did not adjust the motor mount on the old motor. We...
There is a screw on top of the bellhousing, are you supposed to remove it and insert some kind of zerk for greasing or what??

I am putting a rebuilt long block Chevy 350 back in the boat (Campion Haida). I just took a look at the output shaft in the bellhouseing. I can wobble it a tiny tiny bit. What would you recommend??? It is tied to 280 volva penta leg.
Does not appear that any water has gotten through but the...
I have two questions the first is which way does the output shaft go, when removed from the bellhousing. I am assuming there are two bearings and two seals and should they be replaced when completing a rebuild engine.
The second question has to do with alignment when the engine and bellhousing...
It is now time that we get after it and removed our ancient (1467 hr) Chevy 350 from the boat (1980 Campion Hiada) and replace it with a new peppier 350. The big question is how long will this take two able bodied guys??
The plan is to remove the 280 leg and then remove the engine. We have a...
It is time that we replace the 350 Chevy engine in our 24' Campion Haida. The head gasket went late this summer and with 1752 hrs a fix is not reasonable. We will be ordering a 350 Chevy marine rebuilt long block for it.
There are four partners in the boat so the pain is / 4.
I have read a...
We recently purchased a 81 boat with a Volvo 350. The engine appears to run reasonablely for its age. My question is would it be forth $350.00 to have the carb profresionally rebuilt and would the economy and preformance be increased greatly??
Took the boat out of the water after a season at the dock. I started all of the maintenance stuff and pulled the dip stick in the Penta 280 leg. The oil is milky?? It is oviously water in the oil but from were. Can failed bellows cause this??
Thanks
Dale

We have just bought this boat, so we are not sure on what is normal or not. The leg lift a bit in reverse and then bumps down hard when put back in forward is this normal.:confused:
