This is what I did last fall, the first time I changed the oil, but eventually it will be too stripped for that even. It was already damaged when I got it, don't want to damage it anymore.
I checked after I posted this thread and it does look to be the same size/thread pitch but wasn't sure if there would be any issues if it was longer. I may buy one and compare it to the one that's there now.
Alpha One, Gen2: Has anyone come across a drain plug that uses an allen key instead of slotted screwdriver? The slot on what I have is almost gone so I want to replace it but not with the same thing that will give me the same problem in a few years.
I remember buying a replacement for my 90HP...
I'm not finding much in the way of the mercarb for sale for a reasonable price but I have come across a few places claiming a rochester carb as a direct replacement, also with claims it's better than the mercarb. Anyone have thoughts on that?
Thanks, I figured it might just need a new carb. Any suggestions on where to get a rebuilt one for a reasonable price? I rebuilt a carb once many years ago and the vehicle wouldn't run when it was raining so I don't think I want to try that again lol.
I'm chalking the fuel gauge thing up to a...
I have a 2001 Bayliner 175 with Mercruiser 3.0L engine. Does not have TKS. Bought it last fall, have had it on the water since late May. It drives well enough that I feel comfortable using it for cruising around the lake, towing tubes and water skiers etc. It will cruise all day at 35+ MPH...
Unfortunately my dock is lower than the rub rail on any boat that's pulled up to it.
Is this what you're talking about? Looks like a great idea!

So I am going to be putting my new (to me) 2001 bayliner 175 into the water this weekend and just realized there is nowhere to mount a bumper towards the bow of the boat. There are cleats on each side at the stern but the only other cleat is mounted right at the tip of the boat. The previous...
Towards the end of last fall I bought a boat for which I had been asking questions about in this thread:

It got too cold for me to start it...
This week I am going to look at a 2001 Bayliner 175BE. The owner says its was winterized 4 years ago and it has been stored in shrink wrap in a garage since. If it looks ok I would have a marine mechanic check it over fully before buying but I was wondering if there are obvious signs of problems...
I have a Minn Kota 55PD. The first time I went to use it this year it wouldn't work. It will still turn (change direction) but the prop itself won't go. I can hear a clicking noise in the upper unit so I'm pretty sure the foot control is working. Wondering if the motor itself is toast?
Any...
I have a 90HP Evinrude E90ELEOC and the trim/tilt switch on the throttle handle shorts out and blows a fuse when you push it down. The control on the motor itself works fine so I am pretty sure the switch in the handle is to blame. The one I need is part # 0395821 from what I can tell...
Can anyone tell me where the fuse(s) are located on this motor? Battery is good, but nothing on the motor will work. I went to start it about 30 mins after it ran fine and nothing works. no tilt, trim etc.. I figure it's a fuse but I have no idea where they are located and I can't find any...
