hi all
I purchased a 20 hp honda last fall that had about 20 hours on it sense then I put probably about 30 hours on it without issue
last weekend I had my kids out tubing and about a hour of running it completely quit started up and quit again...
sense then it hasn't ever made a gesture of...
ok everyone I now have engine running somewhat so now I have fire and it will start briefly but keeps running out of fuel now ..
if I pump the shifter to add fuel to the carb it will start for a bit till it runs out of fuel and then quits ..
just sprayed the carb with seafoam and removed the...
just swapped the coil and still nothing .
think I might swap out the ignitor and see if that does anything.
not a huge job so might as well nothing else is working LOL
it's a pertronic ignitor D57-22 ignition module
I swapped the button out of the second (running ) motor and seems to fit alot better and does not spin on armature like the other one did but still won't start ..
going to swap out coil from other motor and try that and I also have a spare...
yes it's all removed and there is a black pickup I believe on the bottom where the points would have been running on the armature but the rotor button only goes down to the top of it and is stopping the button from going down any farther.

the one I have is about 1/8-1/4 " to long in the armature hole not allowing the tab to go into the notch.
think the button itself is the right height overall but hole on the center...

so im...
Bolth brand new starters.
Think I found the issue found a broken ground wire and now 1 motor is cranking nice and fast .
Have second motors waterpump apart to replace the seals so hoping it has resolved the issue with that one as well
Still no farther ahead
Pulled perko switch and eliminated the second factory fuse as there is one already attached to the donkey **** cleaned all the connections on perko switch but still no better..
Could the internal of the switch be the cause as it does the same on each motor so thinking its...
Didn't sand them but polished them with a heavy grit scotch pad thing on the end of a drill they were super clean ..I like the varnish idea and will do that once I have this figured out .
I going to pull factory battery switch out tomorrow and see if there is any issues with the connections on...
Yup all wires are the same size .
They are grounded to the back of the block
Although these are aluminum blocks do you think that might have something to do with it?
And the battery switch I do believe is original to the boat which I think is a 1988ish
