Crazy delayed bump, so please don’t shoot... The crack in the transom is still an issue. Shortly after this post in ‘17, I took it to a fiberglass repair shop here in town and their stance was its purely cosmetic after his inspection. Ultimately, he recommended me to get a piece of metal...
So... how's everyone doing tonight?
Well, I'm looking for some advice. There's a crack running horizontal across my transom. I've replaced wood transoms multiple times, but never one of the composite type.
From looking at the pics you can see an attempt was made to either repair or cover up...
I ran all new fuel line to my 2001 Johnson 150 Ocean Pro, 3/8" line. I wanted to relocate the primer bulb anyway, and never knew if the line was replaced or not so figured I'd do it. Cheap upgrade to make sure I know what's going on since I bought the boat last July.
Anyhow, I added in a Wix...
Quick question... Can't find this specific answer anywhere and I'm looking for an answer in a pinch. I know it's Saturday afternoon, so of course the experts are out on the water... Lol. Anyways, I have a '82 merc 90hp L6. Idles best with the mixture screws about 3/4 turns out from lightly...
1982 mercury 90hp L6. Here is my question... When pulling throttle lever to WOT, the spark advance screw seems to go only so far and then let off... It's almost as if the spring or whatever pulls it back is worn or loose. I can see wear marks on the stop from where it has hit it before in the...
Just want to get some opinions on this little thing I found sitting in the side of the road. Really contemplating this thing, as it is the second time I have ever seen one... Let me know what you guys think!
So looking at the old pics of my outboard before I removed for my resto, I noticed the height seems to be higher and not sitting flush on the transom for full support. The distance from top to bottom on the transom is an even 20" and matches up w/the shaft length on the outboard. I am curious as...
Morning All,
Quick question about anaerobic gasket sealer... When removing the block cover on my 1982 L6 90HP Mercury OB, I broke off a few head bolts. This thing hasn't been taken off since factory, so you can understand how difficult it was to get them all out. I got all but two of them...
Just wanted to pass along this photo and some info I found dealing with cavitation...
When liquid (say, water) is subjected to rapid extreme pressure change, small liquid-free zones (bubbles) can form in it. It's not the same thing as boiling, but close enough for our purposes. This...
Ok... So I am rewiring my boat completely and right now I am looking at 16 ga to run throughout. In looking on eBay, I can find both loose wire and duplex wire. I'm trying to determine if the duplex is worth It... IMHO it is, but when wiring up everything underneath, gauges, switches, negative...
Good evening all... I have a question about my 1982 Mercury L6 90 hp outboard. The wiring from both the stator and trigger to the switch boxes are extremely worn to the point I feel I should replace them.
The current wiring looks extremely worn, such as stripped back from the ring connectors...

Anyone know if PL and Titebond will bind together when putting two transom pieces together?? Had a boo boo and ran out of PL and had to supplement with Titebond 3... Just hoping its not fatal...
Please excuse the brief email... I am quite tired, but want to ask this question before going to sleep. I have a 1982 Mercury 90hp inline-6. I would like to replace the gauges (tach, speedo) and have no idea if I can just purchase a set that fits in the console or if there are manufacturer...
