I'm doing a seafoam treatment on land now. Running several ounces then loading it up till it stalls, 10 min soak, blow it out, repeat. Lots of sludge draining if nothing else. I don't ever run this thing on land because it's freshwater only but I'm going to make a habit of it just to blow out...
I have a tach. It's remote control 9.9..even if it's not spot on I'm going 6 mph and not 14. Just needs a little more umph then it'll plane. The roller is perfect, so is the throttle cam. No cracks, grooves or anything. Everything is lined up and throttle cable adjusted to pull wide open...
Sorry, it's not going over 3400 rpm. Not running rough or anything. Fuel mix is correct, tried 2 other tanks/lines/primer bulbs too. Usually it only gets 4400 because I'm underpowered for a 10 hp lake. But I can't even plane now. Usually I get 14 mph, now I'm at 7 😔
Thanks Scott. Kinda figured that's about all I could do. I don't know jack about exhaust systems but I imagine there isnt much to them. Just didn't know if I should be probing or spraying anything before putting it back together. My other OMC's spray a little water out of the muffler above the...
I have reason to believe my exhaust is plugged causing it not to achieve full RPM on a 1992 9.9 Evinrude. I don't need any diagnostics for that. I dropped the gearcase and extension both of which are loaded with sludge. It's been running rich for an extended time. That's been resolved, just need...
While we're talking about exhaust, is there an effective way of checking it without removing the gearcase or powerhead? I.e. if I feel it coming thru the prop while running on a flush, is that enough? I did notice some weird bubbles when putting it on the trailer but didn't think much of it...
Since the initial issue I've soaked, cleaned and rebuilt the carb twice. Once with a Sierra kit, again with OEM. It also has the correct jet while we're on the carb (34). Compression is 120 on both. Roller and throttle cam synced. Nothing cracked or missing. Flywheel key perfect. Engine is...
The tach is set correctly. Even if it wasn't I have went from going 14 mph to 6. The plugs are correct and I've tried both recommended champions. I (properly) synced the carb to the timing which was way off (set too advanced in neutral) and ran it again but no difference whatsoever. I worked the...
Still need to put a timing light on it but I think it's just not advancing. I can get the same 3000 rpm by putting it in gear and opening the throttle plate with my finger. No difference. It is synced properly with the cam follower hash mark and cam roller. Butterfly isn't over rotating..not...
Thanks. I'm really reaching on what it could it be. Compression is 120 on both. I'm having my big boat hauled out to do zines and a couple things on the bottom but I'll post pics of that when I get home later. In the meantime I already have this with the condensation and kind of shows that piece
This has a hairline crack above the barb for idle tube. It doesn't appear to be all the way thru and it's been like that since I rebuilt it back in February. Only thing I can do for now is try to repair it as the part is NLA. I have some shops looking for a good used one in their stash. I can't...
Thanks. Well I'm back to square one. Now with an OEM kit and everything before the fuel inlet fitting on the motor replaced. I know without a DVA I'm limited on testing ignition but everything I could ohm is within spec. What's funny is this thread is exactly 100% my engine and issue. Same year...
The roller looks good as new. No grooves. I had to get 1/4-20 bolts for my puller and it got dark on me but here's the flywheel key. I don't think it's sheared but looks pretty flat. I'll replace it
