Why are you using lures with 9 barbed hooks on them in the first place?
I have fished single barbless hooks since my early teens so over 50 years and have landed 50+lb Chinook salmon in white water rivers and 80lb halibut in 600ft of water and every other type of fish available on one hook with...
They're using an aerator to prevent winter kill of the fish when the lake freezes over. A shallow lake like that runs out of oxygen real fast once it freezes over as all the rotting vegetation uses it up quickly.
Our average temp here for the winter is -20C/5 belowF but we get a lot colder...

Yeah I did get down to the little trout lake. Trout were feeding on something but didn't like the fly I was throwing at them so other than a couple of half-hearted hits I didn't catch any but had the whole place to myself and left in a great mood.

We do the same thing here but it's dry as a popcorn fart so no mold problems here. We have 6" walls so once it's cooled down it it stays not bad on hot days if the windows are closed before it heats up outside.

I thought about that but but on a small boat like that it seems a bit much. All it will cost me to replace the plywood is time and I have a lot more of that than money. Most of the time it's just going to be me out in the boat so those wheels will make it easy to get that sucker in the water...
I figured it would but I'm going to be adding the plywood anyway to have a better base for mounting those wheels so it's no extra work to raise the transom while I'm at it.
Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything mechanically unsound.
