Chatting with DB they say my OEM # does not cross with a PMM starter and they don't have one. They are telling me # 50-807904A1 is the one I need which is a PMGR. They said nobody has ever asked for a PMM and everyone wants the gear reduction. Could be BS as they don't offer one. Do you have a...
5.0 Mercruiser. On the fence between Quicksilver, Sierra, DB Electrical. They all have good and bad reviews. Is It a crapshoot? Db Electrical $65 not painted for whatever reason, many people seem use them without issue. Sierra $210 on sale. Quicksilver $180ish. I think DB is new where the others...
New seal. I cranked down down the transom assembly then took it off 5 minutes later. I know you don't reuse old seals. If there something about the seal that makes it a one time (5 minute) use on a new seal. It bounced back but maybe not quite all the way round
My concern with a washer is snapping the remaining ends when I Torque it down if it's uneven pressure . It's only 26FP so I would think not and possibly the safer bet. Having someone weld it and not having it perfectly flush has it's own concerns, the o ring is mighty thin
It has a broken dog ear but was on the boat like that before. I took it off for an unrelated isse. Someone mentioned I could put a washer on it. Trailered so its not sitting in water. Motor is out. Id rather not spend more on parts than i already am. If I water test it before motor goes in and...
I sanded this area down to get rid of the bottom paint. I was told to use Interlux 2000E enamal barrior coat (grey) with a gel coat over the top and done. Then i heard you cant gel over enamel. What products should i use? Its not a show boat but i want it to look good and not fade out in a...
I have a new assembly going on. I probably should have used that stripper first soda blasting was nasty.. You think I still need it with that small amount left?
I soda blast this area. How do i get the rest off? Chemical, wet or dry sand? The clean areas are not smooth which i thought was normal soda blasting? My plan was to smooth it down and leave it unpainted. Is that doable? Someone mentioned i need to seal that area as whatever seals it is gone now...
I'm a getting a new/used assembly that has a trim manifold on it. My plan was to use that trim manifold and put my lines onto it. Mine looks kinda crusty. Are you saying to unbolt the manifold from mine, don't disconnect any lines, and mount it on the new assembly? The new one has no lines...
What about getting them off if they are in with adhesive? Don't want to scrap the housing with a tool and obviously want the housing perfectly clean/smooth without foam remnants
The motor is out so it's an empty cavity. I was thinking about replacing the trim hoses. They look fine but I assume they are as old as the boat (25 years) With the motor out I would think it would be easy to do to just slide them out?? Do trim hoses pretty much last forever
Getting a new/used transom assembly. 1995. If the foam seems to be in good shape should I leave it? Does it bounce back when removed and recompress correctly or is it a one and done part. Hearing its glued in and a PITA to remove. If I need to remove it any pointers to make it easier? Someone...
I'm replacing this transom assemply. I reading the bottom paint should not be touching assembly as it transfers electric to the outdrive eating it. Whats the best way to remove one inch of paint around the assembly and have it look clean not all uneven. Hearing evertything from soda blasting to...
What about stripping or partially stripping the threads on the housing. The aluminum is going to give before the stud. It it a real concern or does it not happen often
