so....boat runs fine, idles, revs in neutral....
underload when cruising...I try to get up on plane or faster at 2000 rpm....she sputters, backfires, tries, hitches and bucks....

i am sure some of you have installed a newer motor to an old boat...
so, my issue....
i purchased the quicksilver harness assembly adapter to go from the new motor to the old boats 8pin connector plug...
I have things connected but not starting so I am missing something.

recently bought a celebrity boat, 2001, 24 ft cuddy.
it is a pump out portie pottie, goes to a waste tank...
is there a way in these boats that i can pump it over the side or do i have to have the waste sucked out at a marina?

i have a 1982 ,3.8 litre
currently connected to a 1987,
3.0 Litre Cobra stern drive
i am told that this stern drive will eventually fail due to the torgue of the 3.8 engine.
what options do i ahve for replacing the stern drive?
my engine is good wondering if i can get a better stern drive
ok guys,
new water pump,new thermostat,
new impeller in stern drive,
run the boat at idle in the yard and she heats to about 200 degrees after about 5 minutes with the rabbit ears and garden hose on.
risers are cool,
manifolds are cool
risers were clean....
any ideas?

my shift interrupter on my 3.0l cobra does not seem to be working.
the micr switch seems to work by doing continiuity tests but my engine is still not idling down to shift.
what can i check?
can i check the module itself? if so how?
hey guys, my 3.8l thermostat was totally gone,
now replacing...
where does the o-ring go?
does it go between thermostat and housing or does it go on the backside of the thermostat and lock it into the housing?:confused:

my 3.0l cobra has the following wiring....
coming from the assist solenoid....1 wire going to the small terminal on the actual starter solenoid
another wire coming from the ignition coil to another small terminal on the actual starter solenoid
so, new starter i have has only one small...
ok, getting boat ready,
had it fired upo briefly.
checked oil...and it is slime.
how do i get it out?
i have tried sucking thru the dipstick but does not wanna work....
can i fill engine with diesel fuel? and try to dilute things?
of course i will refill with new oil after and run, then drain...

trying to start my boat was turning over then all of a sudden alli get is a clicking out of the assist solenoid. battery is good and charged, starter is fine....
how can i test this solenoid?

Ok,making sure i get this right.
am refilling my 3.0l cobra, i have it vertical position and am putting the gear lube in the filling hole.
it calls for 60oz, i am at about 30-40 oz and oil is coming out the filling hole. nothing at the top. do i need to pump the oil in the filling hole till i...
