Hi, I got rid of the '77 Stamas after getting it running right for a newer Key West 15'. Well, I just so happened to luck up on a GREAT deal on this 1973 Seabird 21' (former cuddy). The great deal was that i got it for FREE. Hull is in SOLID shape.. deck has no weak spots, but the transom is...
hi, going fishing out of Mexico Beach, Fl this weekend (if rain holds out). I'm out of state but have appropriate license for myself and my wife. My son is 9 and enjoys fishing as well...
I know he doesn't have to have a permit, but what if he catches fish that we want to keep? Just say we...
Hi,
Taking our first trip to Mexico beach florida this weekend. I'll have the kids and wife with me. We are going to do a good bit of fishing, but i was wondering if anyone has any info on a good place to anchor and swim? I saw some of the islands near the area like crooked island and shell...
1977 Stamas with 351W and MC-1 Outdrive. I have Morse throttle cable and when I was out today testing work I've done to the boat I broke the little plastic barrel keeper thing that holds the throttle on the stud. What is the name of this part? I've looked on ebay under every possible thing I...
Ok i've got a new holley 600 carb on my 1977 351w boat. I finally have shifting issues resolved after changing the lower unit out and now am ready to put the boat in the water for the first time.
I started it on the hose in the yard a few weeks ago and it ran, then it stopped pumping fuel. I...
I ordered a lower for my MC-1 outdrive and when i received it in the back stud was laying in the box, sheared off below the housing.
The only two options i can think of is have it taken to a shop and drilled, and backed out (i definitely don't trust myself to do it. Is it a possibility that a...
Re: Another Shifter Issue... MC 1
Here is a pic of the control and the shift plate. I know it's odd to me too.. that's why i started changing everything (except the new lower shift cable which appears to be in spec). The new control is the one that's on the boat. The old one is laid uninstalled...
Re: 1977 Stamas with Hardtop. Best way to raise the hardtop
Ok photos are attached. The front where the hardtop connects to the windshield, has aluminum caps that cover wiring. Those come off, and the screws go in up through the windshield frame and into the hardtop.
1977 Stamas Cuddy with 351w engine and MC1. The original shift cable was frozen so i replaced with aftermarket cable (yeah i know.. i bought it BEFORE i started reading on this forum). Did all my bellows and such at the same time.. The original carb throttle was also rusted and frozen up...
Hi,
I have a 1977 Stamas 24' cuddy cabin with a hardtop. The hardtop mounts directly to the windshield and comes out, with an aluminum tube coming up at an angle on each side to support the back. The issue is the hardtop is only about 5'9" from the deck floor and I'm 6' tall. Everytime i turn...
Ok i had the issue with the gears grinding in my MC-1 with ford 351, i was able to fix that. When i adjusted it out i didn't have the throttle linkage connected to the carb because the carb was rusted and wouldn't move. I put my new carb on once i got it shifting correctly. It wouldn't move into...
Re: MC-1 New Shift Cable Grinding Going Into Forward
One other question. I noticed this hose ontop of the shift assembly, along with another connector that doesn't have a hose in it.. where does this go and what is it's function? Is it some type of shift helper or something?
Thanks
I bought a project boat a few months back and did a good bit of work to it. One bit of this involved changing a stuck shift cable. The engine is a 351w with the MC-1 outdrive. I adjusted the cable out so it locked firmly into forward gear when the throttle was in detent and then locked firmly...
I have a 1977 Stamas 24' cuddy with 351w and mc1 outdrive. I have looked all over ebay for a new steering cable. Mine has a large nut that screws into the helm and all i seem to be able to find is the quick connect style. Do these kits come with adapters for the nut style i have or am i missing...
Re: Mercruiser waterpump shaft groove. Too deep?
Another photo after cleaned up. Just wanting to make sure it's good or not before i put it all back together. Thanks.
