    Help with tach repair

My understanding is a multi-meter reading AC will read *something* when it's receiving pulses. You can't use DC however since most meters aren't fast enough to register the tach pulses. Is that not correct?

    Help with tach repair

Given that I had voltage on that wire I know it has continuity to somewhere :) Where should I grab the other end from? I'm not sure where it goes and it's super hard to tell with all the harnesses. Thanks!

    Help with tach repair

Thanks for the thought. We did not, but can try that. Given I have two tachs (the one that was in the boat and one new) that don't work I doubt that'll do it, but it's worth a shot!

    Help with tach repair

Thanks. '03 350 MAG MPI. It's on an 03 Chaparral 230SSI with a Bravo 3. I don't have a serial number handy unfortunately as the number is rubbed off on the spark arrester cover

    Help with tach repair

Hey all, Hoping you might be able to help me get my tach working on my boat. It's an '03 350 MAG MPI. Tach currently moves to zero when it's powered up, but doesn't read RPMs when engine is running. The tach was working earlier this season. According to my captain (my kid), he said it was...

Thanks man, I appreciate the offer. I'm in the Allentown area, so not too far!

I think I'm another story of a bad boat purchase

If I can't work anything out with the previous owner my next move will be to continue removing the deck to see what I'm dealing with. Once I examine everything and take proper core samples I'll decide if it's time for a full restoration or fire sale for parts.

I think I'm another story of a bad boat purchase

Yep, it's a 19'. And honestly the rest of the boat is pretty nice. I was also thinking in the 3k-5k area for the repairs, and like I said, I feel like I can do it myself. I'm not a boat expert, but did fiberglass work repairing another boat I own and have gotten a lot of mechanical knowledge...

I think I'm another story of a bad boat purchase

If I tap on the stringers back at the engine mounts they seem to be holding, but I agree it seems to be a ton of work. I can't believe the previous owner is insisting there's no wood under the deck :-/

I think I'm another story of a bad boat purchase

Hello fellow boaters, I think I might be another statistic of a boat purchase gone bad. About a month ago, I purchased a 1991 Cobia bow rider. It looked to be a good shape for a boat that age and my armature inspections seemed to pass. In retrospect, there were a few red flags that I...

    Help understanding fiberglass boat construction

Here's a picture of the bilge with the gas tank removed. You can't tell much from the picture other than it's in pretty sad shape :-)

    Help understanding fiberglass boat construction

Hi folks, I'm pretty new to boats and bought my first boat as an adult about a year ago. We've been really enjoying it but it's 35 years old and has some issues I'm working though. What would really help is if I understood the construction. If it matters I have an '86 Ebbtide Dynatrak...

How to find proper carb rebuild kit

OK, so that's a bit confusing. I see the part number in the diagram is 383906, but when I add it to my cart, I get the part that I linked above. I figured it would be the interchangable, otherwise why would they link me to it? You're thinking maybe that's not the case?

How to find proper carb rebuild kit

Ah, that's great, I didn't realize I can search by the engine model number here for parts. That search lead me here. So I think that's the ticket. Thanks for your help!
