2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

Pleased for you @mart284 :) I suppose a dead valve spring could lead to localised overheating around that exhaust port, this (valve float) could also account for this engine being down on power at 3000rpm compared to the other engine. Still I'm a bit surprised there'd be enough extra heat to...

Come off skis, surrounded by jellyfish AND not surrounded by your shorts anymore with brothers wives and kids on the boat... That would be a dilemma - On the one hand eager to get out of the water, don't want any jellyfish tentacles near test icicles. On the other hand don't won't any test...

    Bent push rods….calling engine builders

The OP tightened to zero lash then tightened another full turn, no mention of tightening to 20ft lbs etc so like I implied above the OP tightened them to a spec we wouldn't expect to bend pushrods... they were either set correctly or too slack but not too tight. Wouldn't expect zero lash then...

Four Wins Volvo Penta stiff steering

Thanks again Lou, been a while since I looked at this, I should have another look.

    Bent push rods….calling engine builders

If he only tightened to one full turn after lash and the minimum suggested is one one full turn after lash the question still remains what bent the pushrods?

Four Wins Volvo Penta stiff steering

Thanks Lou, only last year but it seems a long time since I looked it over, I remember seeing a pin on the steering mechanism at the rear but think I had a close look at that and it didn't seem bad, but I suppose it could be. How much play is there supposed to be at the pin? As said/implied I...

Four Wins Volvo Penta stiff steering

Hope it's OK to ask about my FourWinns steering on this thread? Mine is easy to turn but it seems like there's some play in it, e.g. if I turn the wheel left I can then turn the wheel maybe 30 degrees right without it adjusting the actual steering at all or vice/versa. If I feel the steering...

    Wakeboat bans

Hehe, 8 miles off any shore in the UK would mean you'd be out at sea and almost guaranteed bigger waves than wakeboats make anyway  Any boat could be a wakeboat if you forget to put the plug in and try to get back to shore before sinking

What make and computer system to replace my Windows 10 before October 14 ?

I use laptops for tuning cars regularly, I convert vehicles to run on LPG. I prefer a big laptop so I can see the screen when it's on the front passenger seat but taking laptops in/out of vehicles I wear them out quickly, usually the hinges fail after around 2 years heavy use. My last few...

    Wakeboat bans

Here in England we obviously don't have big lakes like in the US, there are speed limits of around 10knots on most if not all lakes. A few weeks ago I took my boat on Ullswater which is around 8 miles long but less than a mile wide over most of that length. Someone was surfing behind a wakeboat...

Don't know if this is a scam, I received a phone text message saying I'd won a prize, either £100 cash or 2 tickets to an Elvis tribute gig. The message said press 1 for the money or 2 for the show.

No Spark, feels like I’ve tried everything.

I quoted Scott06 who suggested connecting the purple wire that connects to the coil directly to battery positive for testing purposes. Fitting the relay effectively does the same as what Scott06 suggested but does it automatically whenever the ignition is turned on, the purple wire is connected...
