    Question for @louc and @Scott Danforth If an engine / drive combination was available with either a Chevy or Ford motor, is it just the bellhousing that needs to be changed if swapping between the different motors or would you need to change the coupler and transom stuff too?

    That's not what I meant, I meant something like a hall effect sensor to detect engine rpm (crank sensor) and a similar hall effect sensor to detect drive rpm. I vey much doubt there'll be a speed sensor in the drive though.

    If it's EFI will it have a crank position sensor that could be defective? I don't know how the rpm tachnometer at the helm (on the dashboard) connects to the EFI setup but regardless of if it gets it's signal from the ECU or from the coil, if the ECU uses a crank sensor that isn't reading...
