Re: is it suppose to look like this.
LOL actually here is what I really did:
I put a wire onto terminal A in the picture below in addition to the purple / yellow wire. This allows me to easily bypass the factory wiring power up the electric fuel pump, choke and ignition module if I really...
Re: New guy with problems (boat, not personal)
It would help to post boat year make and model, engine and leg year make and model for those of us who want to help but don't have access to serial numbers and information.
Here is some food-for-thought (some may not apply to your boat)
- Do you...
Hey guys,
How would you fix a leaking boat trim tab hose at the cylinder? It looks like the plastic hose retainer backed off and the hose pushed itself back a bit. I've fixed them before by cutting off the plastic retainer and simply using a stainless steel hose clamp. That seems to work. Any...
Re: New Motor 5.7 first major issue......
Start here:
This is what I have on my 5.7 merc:
http://goo.gl/WNYub
Alpha part number: 860256A 3
Bravo part number: 860256A 4
So I got the manifolds off - Bravo III, 350V8
Here's what I did while I have great access to the engine:
- Check condition of manifold, risers, elbows
- inspect frost plugs, block
- Replace flappers, spark plugs, plug wires
- Replace all raw water hoses with wet-dry exhaust hose
- Compression...
1998 Bayliner 2655
I can't tell you how close I am to getting a sawzall and cut a chunk out of the deck ... how the heck do you remove the elbows from a Bayliner 2655 Ciera?? I'm used to owning boats with doghouses and its so easy to check the manifold, risers and elbows ...
On this boat, it...
Hello everyone,
I'm a first time BravoIII owner, is it normal to have the zincs "chalky" after only 10 hours in the salt water?
Does this have anything to do with the massive stainless steel dual props?
Does this mean my Mercathode is not working? (Everything looks hooked up, it has power...
So I don't normally work on my outdrive when its raining. But I did today and I keep getting shocked.
Here is the scenario:
- the boat is plugged into shore power
- when I touch the outdrive with my bare hand, and touch the wet cemet ground (ie: very wet), I get shocked.
- when I touch the...
Just looking for tips and advice from anyone who has done this conversion before ... or any advice in drilling a thru-hull. Never did that before either.
Please advise:
- I'm planning to glass in a piece of 1/2" plywood to reinforce the area. I was going to use regular construction plywood...
Re: 2008 5.0 MPI mercruiser wouldn't start
Carbs needs more TLC but no wire, sensor or ECM will stop a carb. Even if the fuel pump dies I'm sure I can rig up a fishwell pump or something. LOL
I'm a little biased having spent most of my career as a mechanic (GM dealer) fixing emission /...
Hey guys,
I see that the driveshaft bellows for a Bravo III is redesigned. Both the old and new one has two flat spots on either side ... but the new one has an extra ridge (I'm pointing at it in the picture) on one side that the old one does not.
Which way is up? I will assume the side...
Re: 4.3L V6 Mercruiser Hydrolocked
You are likely looking at the problem right here:
Imagine how much gasket is preventing water from entering the exhaust at this point.
(Note to self: check elbows, risers and manifolds this week)
Re: Have searched and read on shift cable bellows, need some clarity, have a pic for
The shift cable is two pieces .... an inner solid metal core and outer rubber sheath.
Locate the black plastic housing, undo the two square screws that secure the end of the inner core of the shift cable to...
Last time I tried to r+r the raw water pickup on an Alpha 1 Gen 2 w/ 4.3 V6 I gave up. Its not surprising that I'm running into the same issues on a Bravo III w/ 5.7 - it appears a bunch of coolant hoses and the power steering is right smack in the way.
I have the parts and the special tool...
