    Hi Capt! many thanks for the suggestion! Have a friend, much better verse in these matters (also has a timing light) coming over this weekend. We’ll get it checked out and running well again I’m sure. Wish me luck!

    Newbie boater Question: Im in the same situation as the OP. The flywheel is “keyed” but does that mean the timing still need to be reset? MANY THANKS! I have a ’02 Mercury 40hp efi bigfoot.
