I have a 1946 3.6 HP lower unit and need to know if a 1948 impeller from a 3.6 Scott is the same. It fits the eccentric and housing, but the "leg" seems to long ? Is the leg suppose to "bend" or remain straight against the housing ? Could I trim the leg to fit ? I am replacing a cracked/blown...

This is the 1946 , 3.6 HP powerhead #463 with the straight Water Jacket for pick up tube. Would a powerhead with cast #462 / transom clamps # 462-2408 work? It is a 1946 Firestone [U]3.5 HP[U].
