1994 Mercury 40hp 4 cylinder, 2 stroke with oil injection.
Overheats and no water at idle to about 4 mph soon as I give it gas I get water flow. I ordered an impler and will put it in before next use.
My main question is: Is this motor good at going slow? I want to troll.
im banging my head trying to use this site to find an impeller.
I have a 1993 or 94 Mercury 40hp 4 cylinder oil injected 2 stroke. I think this should be a no brainer but i'm clueless on finding it here. serial 0G099305
18' sun tarcker, bass buggy, 1994 model.
I have water in the port pontoon cone. It's enough water to make it sit owner than the starboard side. It does not seem there is a way to access the cone to empty the water. I've lifted the tung of the trailer untill the back of the pontoons hit the...
I've had several Mercury motors in the last 10 years or so. From 7 to 150 hp. This week I'm working on a 72ish 6hp Johnson. It's the same for the most part but I feel better. Seems like it would outlast the Mercury. One thing that caught my eye this morning was the impeller on the Johnson. No...
I got this motor as part of another boat deal. The plate with the ID is missing from the transom clamp.
Is there another place that the motor might be marked? Even a year range based on the decals would be nice.
Thanks in advanced

I pulled this from an 18' Glenwood (thats what i think it was) and am looking to ID it.
Associated Gear LA Calif is in the casting and 317 10% is stamped in the top.
I'm looking for a tune up kit for my 1974 7.5hp serial 3934194. The iboats site does not show any info for my motor. Only older, lower serial numbers. Do i have any options?
I've searched and can't find the answer on which way to turn the anode to make my boat trach better at speed. I have a 1973 Mercury 1150 on a 1962 19' Sabercraft. Today was my first successful run. At WOT the boat was going about 30mph, I had to hold the wheel 45* to starboard to keep it from a...
This is the control and its paired with a 1973 Mercury 1150.
For reasons I can not explain I can't shift into reverse and it will not shift forward until its way to hi in RPM.
In this photo the yellow is connected to the mail throttle lever and the red is connected to the small lever on the...
Im trying to remove the exhaust leg. I seem to be stuck. What is next after these 6 nuts?
My whole aim is to pull the shift rod out of this motor and as far as I can tell I will have to pull the power head to do that. I bent the rod and wrecked the female spline in the motor on my boat. This is...
How do I remove/replace the shift rod? The female end of the spline that connects to the lower unit is messed up and I can't get the two together.
I see what looks like a drift pin at the top of the rod where is connects to the shift linkage. Can I just punch that out and pull the rod out the...
I have never used this control before and am not sure but think I might know. Here is a photo and (my understanding) of how to use them.
OK the throttle is the big one and shift is the little one in the back. My guess is, start with throttle in up and to shift into forward just throttle...
First off, I have a 1973 115 hp Mercury SN: 3525706. I bought a new boat side wiring harness and ignition switch. I'm not positive that I know what i'm doing but I do have a fire extinguisher close by.
Im not up to speed on the terminology of the wiring and have different words for what I...
