I just phone my local lordco and they have caliper seals for every vw all the way back to the 60s. Not hard to find. Took 3 seconds.

Id figure double eagle was a little more “with it”. Where I am from they were the most popular boats among weekend fishermen for close to a half century. Even the coast guard/rcmp used them.

Phoned the supplier ( marine parts express) I was told carried them. He said they dont exist. Too old. 1986 volvo 290 something(yet to figure out model) .
Perhaps maintaining vintage boats is not a hobby for me*** I prefer to be on the water. Not on the forums or in the garage 99% of my life trying to decipher ancient bullshit. Like cars I figured BASIC info wouldnt be a royal pita to dig up.

Thanks for the write up! I found a video walkthrough of this on youtube. He doesnt remove the transom shield or take the drive off. Just does what you mentioned. Thats all I want to do. The boat is basically brand new...
