The serial number is not very ledgable but this is what I can see:
00813828 (possibly a 4 after the 8)
I think this is an alpha 1 gen 1. Help:confused:
OK guys here are the questions;
Can I switch my mercruiser alpha 1 lower unit (V8) which is the stock gear ratio (I think 1:50) to an SE106 that was purchased for a 4.3 v6 (I believe it is 1:84 ratio).

ProblemThe shifting of the boat in and out of gear will be smooth and correct one time and then another time you get the buzz and clunk and this is usually in reverse.
The lower shift cable works smoothly when disconnected from the control linkage...

My dipstick is leaking oil out the finger loop tube. Is this supposed to be sealed??? Could there be a cap on the end of the tube that is missing??:confused:
