I have a BF 9.9 BABS series which starts and runs fine when cold but sometimes when I run it for about 20 mins (happens more frequently after high speed it seems) it will stall out and won't start for about 20 mins. I just bought a shop manual and have just started checking the coils etc. not...
I dropped the lower unit today in 1985 8 HP evinrude to replace the water pump. The screws were easy to remove and when I lifted the water pump housing up all that was left was pieces of the rubber.
The old impeller pieces fell off what looks like a nut on the drive shaft but the new impeller...

Thanks for the response, got my crank case back from shop today, they were drilling out a broken bolt, filled the hole and tapped it. Now I noticed they left a little spot of weld in the cylinder.... boy this didn't make my night.

Hi, I'm new to rebuilding outboards but I'm gonna give it a go. I'm rebuilding an 8 hp Evinrude 1985. I'm wondering if the piston that is scuffed can be reused, I can feel the scuff on the piston but it doesn't seem too bad. The cylinders I can't see any damage. (see attached pics)

Hi, I took apart my 1985 8 Hp Evinrude powerhead and dropped some needle bearings from the powerhead into the lower unit .
I'm wondering how many needles are in each of part #0396068 LINERS & NEEDLES, Rod and 0391267 NEEDLE SET, Center main ?
Any help would be greatly apreciated.
