Hey everyone :)
After going through my motor to see if I could figure why it was idling rough I discovered a stripped head bolt. After removing the bolt I noticed it was a bit rusty with some white corrosion. Eventually I got the head and water jacket cover off and the same white corrosion was...
Does anyone know of there is a benefit to replacing the smaller welch plugs located around my idle screws?
Thanks,
Robert

Hey Everyone,
Now that I have my lower unit all repaired, carb, fuel pump rebuit and all the little things back in place, I'm looking for some suggestions to get it to idle decent. A local boat shop who did a quick tuneup mentioned he could go through it all for like $600 and get it back to how...
Hi all :)
I was testing my fuel pump by disconnecting my fuel line at the carburetor and cranking, I noticed that I just getting spurts of fuel out. Is that what i should be or after cranking for say 3-5 seconds should I be seeing a steady stream of fuel?
Thanks,

Hi all,
Installing a new Fuel Pump kit and noticed that the pressure side nipple on the fuel pump cover was loose. After some inspection I noticed it came off and there are no threads and yes perfectly smooth. It doesn't appear broken, but I was wondering if it was a standard practice to have...
Guys,
Am I right in assuming that in most fiberglass hull boats that the wood portion of a Transom will extend from the entire width of the stern?
Robert

Would adding a drain plug be a good or bad thing in an old boat? I was thinking that would be a good way of knowing if you have any water in the bottom of the hull and also provide a way for most of it to drain out and allow you to vent the rest to dry out?
Thoughts?
Robert

I was taking my boat out the other day and noticed water slowly dripping from one of the bolts that secures my motor to the transom...

First off thanks to all you who helped me outwith my lower unit. All seems to be going good, but I need some advice. When in reverse gear and I push the throttle it only goes half way, is that normal? Also when the lever is in any position it is not engaging the carburetor so I get no...
Having a hard time getting the lower unit back in place. I greased the grommets and water tubes, but it has another 1 1/2 inches to go. Any suggestions?
Robert
I just noticed in getting my lower unit together that the extension piece in between the lower unit and the motor my Seloc FSM only shows a gasket on the lower portion. As both ends appear to be the same size and shape would it be recommended to get a gasket for both sides or would just putting...
I'm finally getting ready to get my lower unit back on my motor, but I noticed that both the water inlet and outlet tubes are loose. I saw no mention of how these were attached or even how to get to them in my Selco Manual. Should they be pretty tight before I place my lower unit back on...
