The diodes confuse me.
Will they or the alternator over heat without the second battery?
The alternator is a 1 wire
I think a newer acr will "sense " no voltage and not charge that output, but I don't think diodes are that smart.

Decided to pull the power head.
The tube appears bent slightly and the end is mucked up some. The driveshaft looks to have rubbed on it at some time.
I'm going to try to file the end to good surface then rebend the tube so it's just inside the pump about the 3/4 in.

I think the timing is the bigger issue. I must have measured btdc and atdc wrong last time.

All my literature says that or 1/4 pint per gallon. Also have a similar vintage chainsaw and Clinton J9-1000 that uses same ratio.
ICRC, years ago I used 24:1 water cooled oil in this one. Can't remember for sure, as it sat for many years when I was suffering from 2 footitis.
