Re: Low profile keel roller?
So here is the solution I came up with. It is working well.
I do plan to raise the bunks 1 notch in the front when I can get time at the ramp on a weekday.
I'm looking for a solution for my keel and the front cross member. There isn't much clearance and I've tried to use a standard roller/bracket. The problem is that the even if I drill the holes at the bottom of the cross member and set the roller as low as possible, it will still be too high...
Desire: Better hole shot and more power in the mid-low planing speeds.
Questions: Would a SS prop help? Would a 4-blade prop help? SS 4-blade (AL is a potential option)?
Last year I bought a new Defiance Yellowtail 195 that came with a Yamaha F115 4 stroke. The motor sits back on a bracket...
Lobster pots are out in force here. I wrapped up a line the other night and when the float wedged into the motor, it just stalled. I was at about 1,800 RPM at the time. Things were pretty tight and the float was wedged between the lower unit and the PTT mechanism. Looks like the prop was...
This may go in the humor area, but it is a towing shot. From their site, it looks like the skiff comes in around 5-600 lbs without the motor.
This is on the way back from Shelter Island in San Diego. I just had to snap a shot with the camera phone...
I'm looking at more options for some wood restoration.
Some options are wood with the epoxy treatment and the synthetic material approach.
Now I am wondering about a DIY spray-on like material, possibly in a roll on. The Rhino liner (sp?) like things for truck beds seem like a nice idea...
I don't think it is normal...
I pulled the dust cap off my bearing buddy to add some grease, and there was rust.
Mainly the compression spring that pushes the grease into the bearing.
Has anyone see anything like this?
Would I be better without the dust caps?
Are the dust caps too big/loose...
I'm planning on moving my fuel tank (portable) to the bow of my 18' aluminum boat.
It has a 40hp Suzuki (4 stroke EFI). It currently has a 8' 5/16" inside diameter hose. If I extend the hose to 16' (a new clean hose, not a splice), should I go with a 3/8" inside diameter? Does it matter.
I...
I've looked through a few places, but I can't find the amps requirement for the starter on my DF40.
I'm looking into moving my batteries forward and need to calculate the wire size.
Thanks,
Steve
I just changed the oil filter on my DF-40 (40hp 4-stroke, 2008) for the first time, and it was a little messy.
Is there a trick to draining the oil out of it before unscrewing it? I got all of the oil out of the main oil well, but the bit in the filter was a little sloppy.
Thanks,
Steve
I've got a fairly new to me 1983 Mariner (made in Japan by Yamaha, I think) 40hp, 2-cylinder outboard. The motor runs very well.
I had the lower unit dropped to replace some seals, water pump etc.
While loosening the lower shift shaft, the mechanic had more trouble than normal getting it...
