    Black Smoke/Poor Idle

    Went to look at a 2000 boat wit a 5.0GL VP. It didn't start that well but ok. Once started, lots of black smoke and poor idle. It was also loud. I'm sure the exhaust bellows is shot, but would that have any other impact? What could be causing the smoke? Thanks in advance for the help.

    93 Cobra OD with tiny hole

    I just noticed a tiny hole on the starboard side just ahead of where you put the muffs. Its about 1/16 and perfectly round. And of course when you start the engine the water comes out in a stream. Is that normal? If not, can it be plugged with something? Thanks for your help.

    5.7 Merc Stalls at Idle When Porpoising

    2000 Merc stalls after a minute or so only when porpoising but not when rocking port to stern. Otherwise idles and runs fine. Any idea why?

    I have a 5.0FLPNCS and the SN is 4110139495. The boat is 96 but I think the engine is 95. I am told the pump I need is VP#3854053.
