Well I plugged the hole for the jet on the face of the intake and it still does the same thing.
Starts fine and after about a minute of idling nice it starts revving up on it's own.
Any thoughts?
I've got a 3.5hp Mercury that I recently got given to me because the PO couldn't get it running properly.
I started by checking compression and it was good and then spark and that was good.
Then I took the carb off and found it was all plugged up really bad with white powder from old gas...

I'm having troubles with the flow of water thru the engine at low rpm. The water pump appears to be clean and in good shape. water pees out at high rpm but not low. the water appears to be leaking from the water tube as it goes up the leg and I can't seem to pull the tube out from the bottom...
