Prop is 3 blade 15x17 black max. Hull is Bayliner 21 center console. I don't think it's particularly fast. It appears that SEI is going to warranty the lower as it has only been 2 years.
It's breaking right inside the water pump. I did hear the motor come out of the water on our way out, maybe twice for just a fraction of a second. We pushed straight into some steep chop for a while.
So this is the second driveshaft I've snapped. This time I was 42 miles offshore so it was rather inconvenient. My last driveshaft was 2 years ago and I put over 1000 miles on this one. Any ideas as to why my motor is eating driveshafts? I put a brand new lower on this time and it still broke.

Engine overheats at trolling speed, when I get her up on plane she drops down to 107 quickly and has no issues. I put a new lower on it 3 seasons ago. I have not done an impeller since. Should I replace the impeller? Or maybe there's gunk somewhere blocking the intake?
nevermind, got it working. It may have been a combination of low oil and a very low battery. Thanks for the help, going to hopefully take my kids out soon!
Thanks, I topped off the oil. Would you recommend replacing the unit in the picture now? I can hear it click on and off but it doesn't even try to raise or lower.
I just acquired a new to me boat and the trim doesn't appear to work. When the trim switch is pressed I can hear that it's making a connection to the motor, and I hear it making a connection on the trim motor. Should I buy a new trim motor? I've seen them on eBay for around $200. Please let...

I just installed a new lower and I can get forward and neutral or reverse and neutral. I've dropped it about 8 times trying to line up the gear shaft. Shift cables are unhooked. Doing the shifting by hand. What am I missing? Thanks!
Sharp knife break at the lower. I'm gonna order the SEI lower just want to make sure it doesn't happen again. Kinda scary with the distances i go in this boat.
Not sure about being defective. I had a sneaking suspicion the guys that installed it didn't know what they were doing, but I put like 50 hours in it so it might have been installed ok. I'll look into SEI. $1k doesn't sound horrible.
Coming back from fishing with my kids and going about 30-35 the boat all of a sudden went into neutral. The binnacle was stuck and I couldn't shift forward or reverse (we got towed in). I thought the cable might be stuck or maybe it had broken, but after taking everything apart and dropping...
