    Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D Choke/Starting Issue?

It is closed to about 85% to 90% - not fully closed. The line voltage of 7.25V is DC voltage. I did not check the AC voltage while running. I'll do that next and report back. It appears the alternator may not be functioning correctly.

    Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D Choke/Starting Issue?

7.25V - running .30V not running I've started a new thread on this - I should have replied here instead. Hope that doesn't cause any confusion.

    Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D Choke/Starting Issue?

Hello, I'm having a problem with low voltage at the electric choke. I started the boat up (after double pumping/priming the carburetor a few times (sort of like in an old car to get it start) Anyway, I've been starting it this way for a while. I put the volt meter on the electric choke and...

New engine - No Fire (Volcruiser)

Thanks Scott! We're fairly sure TDC was set on #1 and distributer was pointed there when installed We're checking the fuel pressure now. Also checking spark from coil to distributer

New engine - No Fire (Volcruiser)

This distributor is electronic ignition. We made sure the at rotor was pointing to #1 - No good there. Pulled distributer, re-installed 180 degrees or so, pointed to #1 - No good. Found the plug wire from the coil to the distributor has a small tear in it. Replaced that, and then we got a...

New engine - No Fire (Volcruiser)

With key on, we have 12.2v to the coil. Checked the purple wire at the ignition switch - 12v there as well. We did get it to cough a little last night, so I'm thinking it may be the ECM. Going to try and unhook the batteries and let it go cold for a while - hoping this will reset the ECM

Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D (PCV valve popping off while running - carbon buildup on boat thru exhaust)

Thanks Lou C. I'll clean it to see what's happening! If not cleanable, I'm ordering one ASAP!

New engine - No Fire (Volcruiser)

Been working on an engine replacement (long block 5.7). We (think) we have everything back in place - new engine; outdrive mounted; new bellows etc. etc. We have no fire - hooked up a spark plug diagnostic tool - no lights flashing on when cranking. Reset the distributor several different...

Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D (PCV valve popping off while running - carbon buildup on boat thru exhaust)

Thanks Bondo, I'll look into adjusting that 2 barrel. Still totally blown away by the PCV valve popping off. Maybe it's stuck - I'll check it out. Thanks again for all the help!

    Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D Choke/Starting Issue?

Lou C, **update** I have line voltage at the electric choke, but I don't see it working the choke plate. It's not warm to the to the touch, so could it be I need a new electric choke? Note that I did not check the line voltage while running. With the Key in the on position, line voltage was...

Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D (PCV valve popping off while running - carbon buildup on boat thru exhaust)

Hello, my PCV valve is popping off the valve cover insert. What is going on here? Vacuum leak to Carb? Also, Took this boat to the mechanic and he jacked with the carburetor somehow, I think to by-pass the electric choke? It's running and starting a lot better, but now the above mentioned...

    Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D Choke/Starting Issue?

Lou C, that's awesome information! Thanks a ton, I'll do a voltage test on it. Any idea what the line voltage should be at the choke heater? 12V? Also, I'm assuming I can get that part off iboats if needed?

    Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D Choke/Starting Issue?

Thanks bruceb58, Makes sense to me, I don't however have a clue what that choke heater looks like. I can run a voltage check on anything, but I don't know what I'm looking for. Can you give me more information? If I don't have voltage, does that mean a new alternator or a new choke heater...
