    Autolite Starter

    The numbers on the starter motor are MDH 4001M 4L. A local shop said it comes up as a 12volt. It should be a 6volt off of a '56 Johnson 30hp. Can anybody tell me what it is 6 or 12 volt? THANKS

    Check valve in connector

    Does anybody know if there is a check valve in the male side of a fuel connector on the old pressure tanks? That's the side that stays on the motor when disconnected. Mine leaks badwhen disconnected. THANK YOU ANYONE!

    HOT WIRE JOHNSON '56 and '57

    I have a '56 Johnson 30hp and a '57 Johnson 35hp both on saw horses both have electric start and neither one has a wire harness attached. Can these be hooked up to turn over somehow without hooking up the wire harnesses up to them? Thanks for any help!

    Uneven Compression

    I bought a '57 Johnson 35hp and the compression test showed 45 on bottom and 65 on the top. Just how bad is this? I'm really surprised because the motor looks very clean. Can I try something in the cylinders or am I kidding myself ? THANKS for ANY HELP!

    carb kit ????

    There are two carb kits offered on this site for my '56 Johnson 30HP. Mallory and Sierra are the choices. The Mallory has more pieces than the Sierra, niether has a float. If I do this it will be the first time I tried to rebuild a carburetor which kit should I use? THANKS for any help.
