I need to rewire my boat. I have a short under the dash that is part of a bundle of wires. When they wiggle it causes my rocker switches and radio to go off. Sick of dealing with this and can't find the short anywhere...
So I can connect that anywhere? It doesn’t have to be back on the filler cap?
It does effect my radio and rockers switches. The radio stays on but no sound. Rocker switches seem to not work right either.
Why the hell would this be done? I have a 1995 Lowe Fish and Ski. Having ground problems with radio and rockers. Finally found problem with a green ground wire mice had chewed. Need to replace entire wire.

Been doing more research under the console. There is no power coming into the plug that is used for the switches. Again, ignition and gauges work fine as they come from a different wire.
So my question is this: the wiring harness for the switches comes in from side of the boat with 6 or 7...
Good observation. I forgot to add, none of the switches have power even with the key own. The switches appear to have their own power source and separate from the key.
I have power to ignition. Power to trolling motor. No power to switches on console. Found powder wire that comes under the console for the rocker switches. There is no power to it, check with circuit tester. Power is fine with tester to the ignition.
