    Reduced power at WOT

I have an '89 Mercury 40HP, ser# group 9570793 and above. my problem is when I first got this motor I could take off from the dock and it ran OK but seemed like it didn't have enough power. I could stop and sit for a few minutes and when I took off again it would have the power I expected. The...

    Share your Cover supports

Hi all! Over the last few years and the last few boats, I've tried to come up with an easy and inexpensive way to keep my boat covers from pooling in spots when it rains. I started out two boats ago with3/4 PVC and after a few tries, I've found that 1 1/4 seems to work really well. Its light...

    Kicker bracket location

Re: Kicker bracket location OK I found some pics of what I think will work. I'll fab something similar out of S/S or aluminum and see how it works. If this doesn't do it then I guess I'll just have to scrap the whole idea and keep fishing the way I've always done. No harm in that...:)

    Kicker bracket location

Re: Kicker bracket location I looked at every angle possible and am still a little stumped. jims123, I put the motor on the transom and yes there is enough room, but in the pic you can see the steering bar hitting the clamp bracket on the kicker. In the next couple of pics I clamped the...

    Mystery Leak

Hey Guys, I have a 1989 40hp outboard ser#OC202880. I just cleaned the fuel filter and changed all the lines. when I fired it up on the muffs, I was checking the lines for any leaks and I noticed some water leaking from somewhere near the top sparkplug. It was a very light drip, but enough...

    Fuel issue?

Hey Gang, I have a 1989 40hp outboard ser#OC202880. I took her out for a spin today and after about 10 mins or so my motor just seemed like it ran out of fuel. It started right back up but as I took off it took a few seconds before I could get it to rev up to WOT. I ran for a minute or so and...

    Kicker bracket location

Re: Kicker bracket location Ok guys thanks for the comments. This is the bracket I'm going to mount. I want to mount it on the left(port) side and I think I read that if I can see the whole prop under the boat viewing it from the front I should be fine. I just re-worked the whole bracket, made...

    Trim pump problem

Hey guy's. I have a '96 SeaRay 190 Signature with a 4.3 Mercruiser engine and an Alpha 0ne Gen II Outdrive. My problem is, when I pulled the boat out yesterday to do my yearly "get it ready to splash" routine I discovered that the trim pump would click when the switch was pressed but would...

    Lower unit tool?

Re: Lower unit tool? Tex60 I finally found the pics. The first pic is the parts you'll need. After welding them together, I took the retaining nut and laid it on the flange and shot it with a little bit of paint to know exactly where I needed to weld the 1/4" pieces of square stock I cut. The...
