I installed a 1998 90 hp johnson motor on my 1995 17' Stratus center console...it run's great with the motor trimed down..put when i start to trim the motor up the front end bounce...so i have to trim the motor back down....I got the finn at the bottom off the boat as close as i could....I could...
I have a (1995 stratos 17' center console with a 1990 90hp johnson) just installed the 90hp.....I hope o mounted the motor in the right place.....It has a hard time to get on plane...it has a 17 pitch prop and runs about 3000 rpms coming out of the hole....but fly on top end at 5500 rpms....what...
1990....If i mounted the motor it too low or to high....would that cause my boat not to get out of that hole and on plane fast....it takes longer for the 90 hp to plane then the 70 hp i replaced it with......OH OH one more thing i about forgot to ask ..........I removed the 70 hp....and install...

1. The 90 hp is a one owner very clean motor....Looks new...Was a 1990 90 hp johnson V4 a good motor!!!!!!
2. I have a whale tail on my 70 hp....Do you guys think i will need to put one on the 90...
I unhooked the vro pump..& going to mix the gas myself.....Are they anything i need to do to the wires that ran to the vro so the boat will run right....I hope you understand waht im asking...........
I have a 1995 70hp johnson J70TLEOR....I have to rebuild my VRO fuel pump...But i have unhooked the oiler...So i just want to install a new fuel pump with out the oiler....But not sure what pump will work in it's place....

ran it today run great,,,till i stopped for about 2.5 hours...then 3400 rpm is it.... it's like it's not getting fuel right...
1. does the motor use a fuel punp?
2. i un-hooked oiler a few weeks ago is it tied in to the pump...
im so lost...i put new coil packs...didn't help.

Runs great when it's cold,,,won't run over 3400 rpm's when hot....i can put the boat in the water sat morning run across the lake...and stop and troll for about 2.5 hr's and start the boat up and 3400 rpm is it...but i can troll for about 5 hr's and it will run great.....it's like when it get's...
the guy told me they was just a gear broke in the lower unit.....so i rebuild the lower unit....got the 90 on the boat got the wiring done.....installed the lower unit...went to start it up.....and it was locked up...bottom piston was gone........guess i'll put the old 70 hp johnson back...
Well im back to my old johnson.....the 90 force i have..is blown up....ok..the johnson
